Stori is a native macOS application. Here's what you need to run it:

  • macOS 14+ (Sonoma or later)
  • Mac computer (Intel or Apple Silicon)
  • 16GB RAM (recommended, 8GB minimum for basic features)
  • 2GB free disk space (for app and projects)
  • Audio interface (optional, for recording)

Installation

Install Stori

Installing Stori is simple and straightforward:

  • Step 1: Download the DMG file from our website
  • Step 2: Open the DMG and drag Stori to Applications
  • Step 3: Launch Stori from Applications or Spotlight
  • Step 4: Grant permissions for microphone and file access when prompted
First Launch

Explore the Interface

When you launch Stori for the first time, you'll see the main DAW interface. Take a moment to explore:

  • Timeline: The main workspace for arranging your music
  • Track Headers: Controls for each track on the left
  • Inspector: Details panel on the right (toggle with ⌘I)
  • Mixer: Professional mixing console (toggle with ⌘M)
  • Transport: Play, stop, record controls at the bottom

Tip: Press ⌘/ to see all available keyboard shortcuts at any time.

Your First Project

Create Your First Song

Let's create a simple song with MIDI instruments:

  • 1 Create Project: Click "New" in the toolbar or press ⌘N
  • 2 Add MIDI Track: Press ⌘⇧M to add a MIDI track
  • 3 Choose Instrument: Select from 128 GM instruments
  • 4 Open Piano Roll: Double-click the track or press ⌘⌥P
  • 5 Draw Notes: Click to add notes in the piano roll
  • 6 Play: Press Space to hear your creation
  • 7 Save: Press ⌘S to save your project

  • Import audio files (drag & drop)
  • Record from microphone/interface
  • Apply effects (reverb, delay, EQ)

🎹 MIDI Composition

  • Create MIDI tracks (⌘⇧M)
  • Choose from 128 GM instruments
  • Draw notes in Piano Roll (⌘⌥P)
  • Or use Score notation view
  • Play with Virtual Keyboard (⌘⇧K)
  • Bounce to audio for mixing

  • Open Step Sequencer
  • Choose from 300+ drum patterns
  • Edit 16-step grid with real samples
  • Adjust swing and velocity
  • Export to timeline
  • Layer with other tracks

🎤 Recording

  • Create audio track
  • Arm for recording (red button)
  • Press record in transport
  • Speak/sing into microphone
  • Press record again to stop
  • Region appears on timeline

🎨 Album Artwork

  • Go to Inspector → Visual tab
  • Enter image prompt
  • Click "Enhance Prompt" (optional)
  • Generate 1024x1024 artwork
  • Set as track image
  • Included in NFT minting

All UI elements are labeled for VoiceOver. Navigate with VO+arrows, interact with VO+Space. Regions announce their name, track, and duration.
