Using Effects

Adding & Controlling Effects

Complete workflow for professional effects processing:

  • Add Effect: Click empty insert slot → Choose effect
  • Choose Preset: Select from dropdown menu
  • Adjust Parameters: Drag sliders or double-click to type
  • Smooth Animations: 0.3s smooth transitions on all parameters
  • Real-Time: Hear changes immediately while playing
  • Bypass: Toggle effect on/off without removing
  • Remove: Click X to delete effect from slot
  • Reorder: Drag effects to change processing order
Aux Sends & Buses

Parallel Effects Processing

Professional workflow using aux sends for reverb and delay:

  • Create Bus: Add reverb/delay bus in project
  • 100% Wet: Bus effect set to full wet (no dry signal)
  • Add Sends: Each track has send controls
  • Send Level: Control how much signal goes to bus
  • Blend: Mix dry track + wet bus return
  • Efficiency: One reverb for multiple tracks
  • Consistency: Same reverb space for cohesion
  • CPU Savings: Much more efficient than insert reverb per track

🔀 Signal Flow

Understanding how audio flows through the mixer:

TRACK SIGNAL FLOW:

1. Audio Source
↓ (Audio file, instrument, or mic input)

2. Track EQ
   ↓ (Hi/Mid/Lo tone shaping)

3. Insert Effects Slots
   ↓ (1 → 2 → 3 → 4 → 5 → 6 → 7 → 8)

4. Volume Fader
   ↓ (Level control)

5. Pan Control
   ↓ (Stereo positioning)

6. Aux Sends (parallel)
   ↓ (Send to reverb/delay buses)

7. Track Output
↓ (Routed to Master or Bus)

8. Master Channel
   ↓ (Final EQ and limiting)

9. Audio Output
   ↓ (To speakers/headphones)

PRO TIP: Use insert effects for individual track processing
Use aux sends for shared reverb/delay spaces

Real-time level meters with peak indicators

Level Metering

Monitor Your Levels

Real-time audio level monitoring for professional mixing:

  • Per-Track Meters: Each channel has its own meter
  • Color Coded: Green (safe), Yellow (hot), Red (clipping)
  • Peak Hold: Shows maximum level reached
  • Peak Indicator: Red light when clipping detected
  • Pre-Fader: Meters show level before fader
  • Real-Time: Updates during playback and recording
  • Target Range: Aim for -18dB to -6dB average
  • Headroom: Leave 3-6dB before 0dBFS
Master Channel

Final Mix Control

The master channel is the final stage before audio output:

  • Master EQ: Final tone shaping for entire mix
  • Master Fader: Overall volume control
  • Master Meter: Monitor final output levels
  • Insert Slots: Master effects (limiter, maximizer)
  • Stereo Output: L/R channels to speakers
  • Peak Limiting: Prevent clipping on output
  • Target Level: Master should peak around -3dB to -1dB
